FIA Talks: College Talks

Our fourth podcast episode is out now! In this episode of FIA Talks, we celebrate the accomplishments of our First Generation College students.

Our fourth podcast was streamed on June 10th, and it featured three of our youth leaders from Oakland Unity High School, Lighthouse Community High School, and Cal Berkeley talking about what college and the road to college mean to them. Click here to watch!

Youth Leader Testimonials

I’m excited to go to college and be a first-generation college student. Being that my parents didn’t go to college, the opportunity seems exciting and fun but I’m also a bit nervous.

  • JoJo G, Lighthouse Community High School Alumni

The idea of being a first-generation college student is really exciting but also nerve-racking. My parents didn’t have the opportunity to go to college so we’re doing this together. The bar is set high.

  • Luciana P, Oakland Unity High School Alumni

It’s very upsetting to me to see data showing how many black and brown students fail when it comes to A-G compilation because of their schools. For my fellow students, you owe it to yourself to still continue your education at a community college!
