Thank you so much for joining FIA and your school for our Lit for Literacy program. Below you will find information on each session, as well as the homework to know for each session.

Power in Practice homework
Here is what we asked you to work on after each session. Practice is where the learning sticks, at home and with the parents around you.
As we wrapped up Session 1, we asked you to work on a few things:
- Finish your literacy Story of Self and share it with two other parents. Ask them about their Literacy Story of Self.
- Practice a Book Walk or a Book Talk.
- Set up your routine for home reading.
- Share a photo or a video to celebrate your home reading.
To prepare for Session 3, please complete your Power in Practice homework:
- Continue your routine for home reading, including Book Talks and Book Walks. Take a photo or video and share it with us.
- Finish your Story of Us. Share it with two other parents.
- Finish your Network of Relationships worksheet.
As we wrapped up Session 3, we asked you to practice a few things to strengthen your leadership and literacy practices:
- Complete your Story of Now worksheet.
- Share your Story of Now with 5 people.
- Try out Timed Reading Fluency and send us a video. Reward your child with a sticker on their home reading chart. Digital Fluency Packets for Grades K-5
As we wrapped up Session 4, we asked you to practice a few things to strengthen your leadership and literacy practices:
- Continue your routine for home reading, including Book Walks, Book Talks and Timed Fluency.
- Visit the Oakland Public Library and get books to build vocabulary and schema with your child.
- Attend the Family Accountability Walk.Date TBA

Join the Parent Literacy Team at your school
- Attend the Parent Literacy Planning meeting to prepare for Literacy Night, Town Hall or conference week, and for parent-led research action with your school's principal.Date TBA

Congratulations on pouring into your own leadership development, your student's academic achievement, and your school's community by being part of a powerful team of family literacy leaders. You are leading a movement that will ensure ALL Oakland students can read on grade level. Here are some next steps to keep in mind.
- Continue to stay involved at your child's school, reading at home with your child, and sharing what you have learned with those around you.
Fellowship updates
- For families who submitted ACH, your direct deposit will arrive within 3 days of the checks being processed.
- For families who requested a physical check, it will be mailed to the address you provided on your W-9 within two to three weeks of disbursement.

- Share what you are learning with 2 to 3 parents.
- Think about who you will invite to our September 17th Action Planning Meeting.
- Practice your Story of Self or testimony.
As we wrapped up Session 2, we asked you to work on a few things to reinforce the learnings:
- Share what you are learning with 2 to 3 parents.
- Confirm your invitees to our Action Planning Meeting (1 to 2 leaders).
- Practice your Story of Self or testimony.
As we wrapped up Session 3, we asked you to work on a few things to reinforce the learnings:
- Invite and bring at least 4 people to our October 1st Candidate Forum.
- Meet with your team to plan your part of the action. Every role matters.
